Homoeopathy in More Detail
Homoeopathy, like many complementary therapies such as acupuncture and healing, is energy medicine working on the energetic balance of your mental, emotional and physical self. This gentle but very deep acting treatment is based on three main principles:The Law of Similars
The basis of homoeopathy has been around a long time! 2,000 years
ago, Hippocrates, the Ancient Greek physician known as the “Father
of Medicine”, wrote of using two systems of healing. One he called
the system of contraries, from which modern Western medicine is derived. The
other, he called the system of similars and it is from this that homoeopathy
was developed.
The founder of homoeopathy, Samuel Hahnemann, noticed that the symptoms of quinine poisoning resemble the symptoms of malaria – the very disease that quinine was (and is) used to treat. Experimentation showed him that this is true for other substances too: symptoms that are caused in a healthy person can be cured in a sick person. So, for instance, homoeopathic coffee (Coffea Cruda) might be used to treat a person suffering from insomnia, or homoeopathic onion (Allium Cepa) could treat a cold characterised by streaming and burning eyes.
The Minimum Dose
Hahnemann, worried about the poisoning of patients with crude drugs, experimented
with diluting the medicines he prescribed. To his surprise, he found
that – up to a point – the more he diluted the substances,
the better effect they had. So homoeopathy uses the very minimum
amount of remedy necessary to bring about positive change.
A tiny pillule, the size of a poppy seed, is taken in pure water over a period of a few days, stimulating your own healing ability and re-establishing harmony and balance. With homoeopathy, less is more!
In the stirring and mixing of his diluted medicines, Hahnemann devised the method of moving homoeopathy from chemical medicine to energy medicine.
Treating the Whole Person
Homoeopathy treats the person, not the “label”. For
example, ten people who have the label “asthma” will exhibit
a wide variety of symptoms, sensations, causes, emotional feelings, and ways
of coping. And, of course, there is no one like you: each person
has their own completely individual history, character and responses. So,
our ten “asthma” sufferers would probably need nine or ten individually
prescribed homoeopathic medicines – because each person is an individual.
